(source:complex.com)

if you have ever had trouble finding a stylish yet comfortable and light pair of rain boots, look no further.

converse has created an all-rubber upper, soft fabric lining, and gusseted tongue remake of their classic chuck taylors for the days of unpleasant weather. and im an instant fan. you cant go wrong with the classic look and feel of the chuck taylors combined with the practicality of simple and useful rain boots.

they will hit the stores in the US on septemeber 15th for the affordable price of $65. they will be available in seven monochromatic colors including black, white, red, navy, and yellow. (yellow is my favorite) i for one will definitely be looking for these come september 15th.

spring 2015 nyfw… marc jacobs

(source:style.com)

this was marc jacob’s first spring show since his departure as creative director of louis vuitton last fall. he left to devote more time and focus on his own label and i was looking forward to see what he had done with no distractions but his own label to occupy his time, and he did not disappoint.

the collection definitely was military inspired with uniforms in mind filled with embellished details. the colors were simple yet beautiful, with fatigue greens. muted teals and blues, along with shades of beige. it was a collection that had a hint of masculinity that balanced well with a heavy dose of femininity. seemed like each piece was uniformed but possessed its own characteristic that allowed it to stand out on its own.

this collection was marc jacobs commentary on culture today, as he said after the show "In the quest for individuality, people start fitting into these flocks and looking the same."

spring 2015 nyfw… ralph lauren

(source:style.com)

no one has elevated the realm of american sportswear like ralph lauren has for the past 40 years. this collection showed us american sportswear is his domain and he can do whatever he damn well pleases.

filled with fitted cargo pants, chiffons, blacks, bright oranges, yellows, fuchsias, and a majority of olive. one can only describe his spring 2015 collection as haute safari gear for the jungles of the hamptons with a creative approach to evening wear. ralph lauren has elevated american sportswear to a refined elegance once again.

just like you and me…

image(source:wwd)

we all have our favorite designers and fashion industry insiders that we look up to and admire.

heres a special moment captured behind the scenes before the public school show as designer and co-founder dao-yi chow spends time talking and bonding with his son.

sometimes we see them in a different light or we place them on a pedestal and we tend to forget that they are people just like you and me…

spring 2015 nyfw… jcrew

(source:style.com)

classic american feel with a modern casual approach. not many labels do it as well as jcrew. and their spring 2015 collection is no different.

with their focus on whites, indigos, and fun quirky prints jcrew has delivered a fun casual collection once again with oversized jackets and mix and match pieces that somehow just works. jcrew has never wowed me but most importantly they have also never disappointed me, jenna lyons, creative director and frank muytjens, menswear director have done an excellent job in steering this ship in line, creating clothes that people just want to wear. it just works and sometimes thats all that really matters. keep it simple…

spring 2015 nyfw… diane von furstenberg

(source:style.com)

diane von furstenberg’s spring 2015 collection like all her previous collections were filled with beautiful bright colors and sensual silhouettes, but unlike her past collections this one definitely had a sexier edge that was new to dvf.

keeping up with the classic signature of dvf, this collection was filled with beautiful bright spring colors with fun prints and fabrics while also offering a new sexier edge like an abundance of bra tops and thigh high slits. there was definitely no shortage of skin and legs. all providing a fresh new sexy appeal to the classic elegant dvf look.

dvf is a classic iconic staple in the fashion industry yet she finds ways to reinvent herself. this is definitely one of my favorite womenswear collections of the season and i hope you can see why.

spring 2015 nyfw… public school

(source:style.com)

"its about finding order out of chaos." was what dao-yi chow, designer and co-founder of public school said after their show. and that was exactly how you would define public schools spring 2015 collection.

the ordered chaos started with geometric shapes, prints, stripes, and marble patterns, from all different types of fabrics from silk, mesh, and knits. to all different colors ranging from white, black, grey, and electric blue. with the womenswear and menswear complementing each other beautifully, all coming together to create a chaotic yet beautiful collection of what some might call formal active wear.

"It’s a reflection of the way life is: You need to make sense of the chaos to find the truth that matters to you."  -dao-yi chow and maxwell osborne, designers and co-founders of public school.

spring 2015 nyfw… alexander wang

(source:style.com)

its no surprise to anyone that alexander wang is inspired by active wear. but it has never been more evident than in his spring 2015 collection.

with this collection wang took his inspiration from the sneaker world as some, if not all his pieces were inspired by some of the most iconic sneakers of our time. when viewing his collection it’s difficult not to be reminded of nike flyknits, air maxes, jordans, and adidas’ stan smiths.

from the reminder of the nike soles, to the iconic jordan elephant print, to the white and green collar combination of the stan smiths, to the deconstructed look of the nike air max bags, athletic wear took center stage.

i might not be a huge fan of this collection, but i am a huge fan of alexander wang. hes never afraid to explore and have fun, and thats what makes fashion exciting. cant wait to see what he has in store for next season.
